According to the diplomat, the process currently being carried out by the United States to segment and censor the Internet is not part of independence, sovereignty.

We, as countries, peoples, communities, must have our own digital sovereignty, but no state should be able to censor and moderate another person’s space, based on its own vision, the Foreign Ministry´s spokeswoman said.

According to her, signs of restrictions on Internet freedom can already be perceived today.

The segmentation of the Internet, the control over digital platforms, the power to press the ‘red button’ of cancellation, inclusions and moderation, are a clear example of digital freedom, she concluded.
