During the ceremony, some of the emblematic phrases of the most universal of all Cubans were recalled, as well as his commitment to the homeland’s independence and the validity of his ideology.
The speech at the event highlighted the Apostle’s commitment to unity and Cuba’s liberation from Spanish colonialism, without fear of losing his life in combat.
“Marti dies for his courage, for his vital commitment and total dedication to the independence and anti-imperialist cause. He dies for his recklessness, for his enormously increased enthusiasm in the last days before May 19 (1895),” the text added.
At the end of the event, a wreath of white roses were laid in front of a bust of the National Hero outside the Cuban Embassy in Beijing that was sculpted in bronze by Chinese artist Yuan Xikun in 2004.
