The organizers of one of the most important events for the country’s culture put a total of 338 books at the public’s disposal, including classics for children’s literature such as La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age), a magazine conceived by Jose Marti, Cuba’s most illustrious thinker in 1882.

In her words to inaugurate the Fair one of the most prestigious researchers in Camagüey, Olga Garcia Yero, stressed that this event, beyond the artistic, brings together culture, history and social sciences.

“It is precisely science in its broadest sense, one of the decisive pillars for our nation,” the professor of the University of Camagüey, the first university founded by the Cuban Revolution, said.

This 30th edition of Havana’s International Book Fair is dedicated to Mexico, “because of its scope with those ties between both peoples, how to forget that from here in Havana Hernan Cortes left for Mexico, and that after that land would be notable contributions to the economy of Cuba, which had already been weighed down,” she said.
