Belgian association demands end to US blockade against Cuba

Brussels, May 20 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Refugees from Latin American and the Caribbean in Belgium (ARLAC) on Friday condemned the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and demanded its lifting.

ARLAC spokeswoman Emelinda Malcotte expressed during an interview with Prensa Latina her rejection to Washington’s policy to suffocate the island and reiterated her solidarity with its people and government.

In addition to being against the US blockade, ARLAC acts from Europe in defense of the Cuban Revolution, because that process that shows us the way to a different world is very important, she stressed in Brussels.

On Wednesday, the members of the Association participated at a rally at the Luxembourg Square, in front of the European Parliament, to demand the end of the siege imposed for more than 60 years to the Caribbean nation, a meeting in which more than 200 people from different countries and sectors of society participated.

According to the activist, the Association generally accompanies the progressive movements of the region, and in this sense she stated that she is very attentive to the May 29 presidential elections in Colombia.
