A delegation made up of the legal director of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), Juan José Álvarez and the Cuban ambassador to Uruguay, Zulan Popa, made the presentation at the 67th Meeting of the Regional Commission of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), held in Punta del Este.
There it was made known that on the island, after the global impact of Covid-19, a growing dynamic of visitors is maintained, with the forecast to receive this year more than half of those who did so in 2019.
Proof of this was the International Tourism Fair in its 40th edition, held in the resort of Varadero, with a record participation of tour operators, airlines, travel agents, other industry players and supplier and service companies.
The presentation recalled that as of the second half of March 2020, the Cuban government implemented a program of preventive measures to face Covid-19, which included the protection of visitors in the country.
At the same time, it highlighted the protection during the most difficult months of the crisis to the available human capital that progressively reincorporates to their usual activities and environments, while the facilities are subject to constructive actions to raise or maintain comfort standards.
