Beirut, May 23 (Prensa Latina) The president of the League for the Rights of Lebanese Women, Aida Nasrallah, highlighted the legacy of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, murdered by Israeli occupation forces on May 11th.

Nasrallah called the reporter, who died for telling the Arab world about the atrocities and abuses by Israeli forces in Palestine, a heroine.

Nasrallah, who is the leader of the organization and coordinator of the Arab Regional Center, stressed in an interview with Prensa Latina that the Israeli enemy failed in its attempt to silence the press, since the soul and courage of Abu Aqleh are an inspiration to defend the right of Palestine to be an independent State.

In Nasrallah’s words, the crime against Aqleh, an Al-Jazeera reporter, during a raid conducted by Tel Aviv forces on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank is another terrorist act of the Zionist incursion into Palestine and deserves all international repudiation.

The leader expressed support for the cause of Palestine and Syria and in favor of the uprising against the exploitation and interference of imperialism.

The president of the League ratified in the context of the 20th Congress of the organization the commitment with the final declaration to fight for a democratic Lebanese State that offers equal rights to all without discrimination.

Since its creation in 1947, the League has promoted the emancipation of women through the achievement of social guarantees and greater participation in political life, while reiterating its commitment to peace and unity on the planet.
