Alternative music festival returns to Cuba’s stages

Havana, May 24 (Prensa Latina) The Ciudad del Mar International Alternative Music Festival, which takes place annually in the province of Cienfuegos, returns to the calendar of on-site events in Cuba as the starting point of the summer festivities.

After two years confined to virtual platforms due to the impact of Covid-19 on the island, the event will be held on stages in the territory of Cienfuegos, with the participation of renowned local and foreign artists of the genre.

According to the festival’s organizers, the event will take place from June 30 to July 3 and the Buena Fe duo, David Blanco, Wil Campa, Grupo Karamba, Toques del Río, Adrián Berazaín, Mauricio Figueiral and Ernesto Blanco have confirmed their attendance.

Also on the event are the D’Cuba group, Jota Barrios, the finalists of the San Remo Music Awards Cuba 2022, as well as Cienfuegos singers Rolo Rivera and Nelson Valdés.

Among the venues chosen for this ninth edition are the Tomás Terry Theater and the café of the cultural institution itself, the Ateneo Hall, the EGREM Music House and the fairgrounds, according to the project’s management group.

Sponsored by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and the Government of the territory, the meeting is supported by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM) and the Musicuba agency, while it is part of the summer proposals of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism.
