He also highlighted the statistics published in the Oxford University website, Our World in Data, in which the Caribbean country ranks third in the world in this aspect, only preceded by the United Arab Emirates and Portugal.

At the end of May 21, 36 million 524,808 doses of the Cuban immunizers Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala had been administered in the country, according to the Public Health Ministry.

Nine million 960,569 people have been fully vaccinated, which represents 89.9 percent of all citizens, while seven million 218,117 people, or over 80 percent of the population, have received booster doses, according to the ministry.

In early May, the country also launched a booster campaign for young people and teenagers between 12 and 18 years old and, a few days later, the health authorities announced the beginning of the second one for people over 50 years old.

On the other hand, clinical trials are being carried out with Cuban products in a group of infants up to two years old, in order to know the effectiveness of the anti-Covid-19 vaccination in this age group.
