In his speech on Guyana’s National Day, celebrated on Monday, the diplomat addressed the interest in exploring exchange possibilities in areas such as construction, trade, health, sports and culture, among others.
Majeed insisted on the historical and strategic nature of bilateral ties, part of the legacy of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, which was continued by Army General Raul Castro and President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
Cuba is a faithful ally, the Guyanese ambassador said, and thus he recalled the telephone conversation and the meeting within the framework of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) between the leaders of his country, Irfaan Ali, and Diaz-Canel.
He stressed that both meetings reaffirm the historic ties of friendship between their sovereign States and created a broader and deeper basis for bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.
Regarding the celebration of Guyana’s National Day, the diplomat reviewed important milestones in the life of the country as an independent nation, several of them in terms of economic development, international relations, environmental protection and the fight against climate change.
