Both officials expressed their satisfaction with what was discussed at their meeting and said they hoped that the rapprochement between the two countries after years of diplomatic tension would be positive, Turkish state television reported on Wednesday.

Both countries have maintained diplomatic tensions in recent years, and the visit to Israel by Çavusoglu, who also invited Lapid to Turkey, seeks to bring positions even closer following a first visit in March to Ankara by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Çavusoglu mentioned that he also met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the occupied West Bank, where he assured that normalization with Israel would not undermine Turkish support for Palestine.

Ankara, 25 may (Prensa Latina) El ministro de exteriores de Turquía, Mevlüt Çavusoglu, dijo hoy en esta capital que sostuvo un encuentro en Jerusalén con su par israelí, Yair Lapid, como parte del proceso de mejora y normalización de las relaciones bilaterales.
Ambos titulares se mostraron satisfechos por lo tratado en su encuentro y aseguraron esperar que el acercamiento entre los dos países tras años de tensión diplomática sea positivo, destacó este miércoles la televisión estatal turca.
Pese a nuestras diferencias, la continuación de un diálogo sostenido será beneficiosa y puede contribuir también a la paz en la región, declaró Çavusoglu en una rueda de prensa ofrecida después de la reunión con Lapid en Jerusalén.
Trabajar con una agenda positiva también nos puede ayudar a abordar nuestros desacuerdos de una forma más constructiva, dijo el jefe de la diplomacia de Ankara, en la que fue la primera visita a la región en 15 años de un canciller turco.
Ambos países han mantenido tensiones diplomáticas estos últimos años, y el paso por Israel de Çavusoglu, quien también invitó a Lapid a Turquía, busca acercar aún más las posturas tras una primera visita en marzo a Ankara del presidente israelí, Isaac Herzog.
