“In the current international conditions, when, unfortunately, traditional trade and economic ties and logistic chains are being destroyed, the Russian initiative to form a Great Eurasian Partnership acquires a special sound,” he said by videoconference at the first Eurasian Economic Forum.
At the meeting, held in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, the president recalled that his country proposed this idea many years ago, which was supported by the members of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Brics, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and other nations.
Putin said that the “Greater Eurasia” is, without exaggeration, a great civilization project that would favor a common space of equal cooperation for regional organizations.
He pointed out that such a plan should reflect the main international challenges, define future objectives and contain tools and mechanisms to achieve them.
He warned that in order to make the project a reality, new steps are required to develop a system of trade and investment agreements with the participation of the organizations interested in being part of it.
