Rains continue in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, May 26 (Prensa Latina) Rains continue in the Dominican Republic on Thursday, due to a trough that is mainly affecting the northeast, southeast and north regions, the central mountain range and the border area.

According to the National Office of Meteorology (ONAMET), rainfalls may continue throughout the afternoon and into the night.

Due to the rains, possible flooding and the overflowing of rivers, streams and ravines, the ONAMET ratified the alert levels for 13 provinces.

Hato Mayor, Santiago, Monte Plata, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramirez and San Jose de Ocoa are on yellow (intermediate) alert, while Santiago Rodriguez, Duarte, San Juan, San Pedro de Macoris and Maria Trinidad Sanchez remain green (minimum).

On Friday, the influence of the trough over the country will continue and will favor the formation of clouds, leading to light downpours.
