The Cuban leader spoke by video message at the meeting organized in Bishkek, which brought together the heads of State and government of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU): Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as Moldova, Uzbekistan and Cuba, with observer status.

He warned that at this moment access to expensive food and fuel imports affects Cuba, a situation aggravated by the challenges imposed on government management and the development of the country’s economic and social model by the hostility of Washington’s policy.

On behalf of the Cuban people, the head of State expressed his gratitude for the support of the member countries of the European Union to the demand of Cuba for the end of the blockade.

In another part of his speech, he called attention to the continuous attempts by the United States to expand its military and hegemonic dominance through the continued expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) towards the countries of Eastern Europe.

He stated that Washington and this military bloc are directly responsible for the outcome of the events taking place in Europe nowadays.
