In a joint declaration, the countries that make up the European bloc made the exhortation “in view of the political divergences and respect for the Colombian electoral institutionality and the procedures in force to investigate and clarify eventual complaints with respect to the process”.
International and local electoral observation missions, including for the first time an EU mission, have been present in Colombia for several months to follow the campaign, he explained in the text.
“They are being deployed in the country to accompany the Colombian people on a democratic and peaceful electoral Sunday,” he stressed.
In the elections scheduled for tomorrow, the electorate will choose the country’s president and vice president for the 2022-2026 period.
The winning ticket must obtain half plus one of the total valid votes, otherwise a run-off election will be held on June 19 between the two candidates with the highest number of votes.
