Emiratis lead foreign investment in Angola (+ Foto)

Luanda, May 29 (Prensa Latina) United Arab Emirates leads foreign direct investments (FDI) in Angola, with 351.7 million dollars, from 2018 to March 2022, indicated data from the promoter Aipex, disclosed today by a national newspaper.

According to the Jornal de Angola, the analysis took into account the participation of 48 countries and the Emiratis remained as the top of the 10 main contributors of FDI in this sub-Saharan African country.

The report of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (Aipex) revealed that, in the reference period, FDI registered a total amount of 2.7 billion dollars, with 234 projects.

After the Emiratis, the United Kingdom and China were second and third, by making deals for 283.1 million and 225 million dollars, respectively, the source indicated.

According to Aipex, Germany ranked fourth (93.6 million dollars), followed by France (36.8), Belgium (24.5), Hong Kong (20.5), Portugal (19.2), Eritrea (12) and Switzerland (10 million).

The FDIs provided by the largest capitals were linked to sectors such as mining, financial activity, telecommunications, civil construction, education, health, tourism, fishing, agriculture, commerce and industry, the newspaper reported.

Among the works financed by the United Arab Emirates is a factory for the assembly of agricultural tractors, inaugurated in 2020 by President João Lourenço, in the Luanda-Bengo special economic zone (SEZ).
