Over 40 Russian warships participate in exercise in the Pacific

Moscow, Jun 3 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Pacific navy began exercises with the participation of over 40 warships.

The Ministry said in a statement released by the TASS news agency that support ships, some 20 planes and helicopters will also participate in the drills.

According to the statement, “During (the drlls), the groups of ships, together with the naval aviation, will search for enemy submarines and work on the organization of the air defense of tactical groups of ships.”

It also specified that said elements will carry out training and combat exercises on surface and air targets, and will work on the organization of logistical support for the forces at sea.

The Defense Ministry also specified that the Marshal Krylov control ship, the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate, large anti-submarine ships and corvettes, small anti-submarine ships, minesweepers, missile and support ships are operating in the designated areas.

“A a series of tasks were already been carried out at the exit from the assembly areas, including practical actions to overcome areas of the sea with danger of mines and artillery fire training was carried out on mock-ups of floating mines threatening civilian shipping”, the Defense Ministry stated.

The exercises are taking place from June 3rd to 10th in accordance with the Pacific fleet training plan for 2022, and their maneuvers are led by commander of the fleet Admiral Sergey Avakiantz.
