Joe Biden´s anti-democratic and arbitrary summit, La Jornada quotes

Mexico City, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) The Mexican newspaper La Jornada on Monday described the Summit of the Americas called by US President Joe Biden as anti-democratic and arbitrary, citing a statement by the Cuban government.

The Mexican newspaper echoed the Cuban Foreign Ministry´s statement describing the exclusion of some nations from the 9th Summit of the Americas, in Los Angeles, California, as anti-democratic and arbitrary.

According to the text published by La Jornada, the Cuban government assured there is no justification for excluding Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from the summit. “There is no one single reason that justifies the anti-democratic and arbitrary exclusion of any country from the continental event.”

With haughtiness, fear that uncomfortable truths will be heard, and the determination to prevent the summit from having talk on the most pressing and complex issues, the US government once anew decided on the exclusion as a resource to achieve an event with no concrete contributions, but profitable for imperialism.

La Jornada pointed out that Cuba also expressed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador´s leadership urging all nations to be invited must be specially recognized.

After weeks of uncertainty, López Obrador said on Monday that he strongly rejected his invitation to attend the summit because several countries had been excluded.

Those efforts included immoral pressure, blackmails, threats and dirty tricks. These are common practices by the United States reflecting its traditional contempt for our countries. It really deserves the strongest rejection.
