Sanitation and repair works progress in Cuba’s capital

Havana, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) The sanitation, cleaning and dredging works of some areas are making progress in Havana, affected by the heavy rains that caused flooding and damages to homes, mainly in eight municipalities.

During a meeting of the provincial temporary working group, chaired by Esteban Lazo, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), the need to maintain extreme vigilance in Havana rivers was stressed in view of the prediction of an active rainy season.

According to Luis Antonio Torres, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Havana, this is a task to be advised by the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources to guarantee the early evacuation of the population.

It was also reported during the meeting that food and hygiene modules are being delivered to the families who lost their belongings as a result of the floods, the Cuban News Agency stated.
