He explained that Russia has a plan to redirect traffic through international exchange points in Asia, and stressed that the company Rostelecom, Russia’s main industrial operator, has the conditions to do so.
The Russian minister noted that there has been one or two precedents of attempts to do so, but he assured that up to now the traffic exchange points in Europe are still available for Russian providers, TASS news agency reported.
In March, western media reported that an Internet traffic exchange point of company LINX, in London, decided to cut off services to Russian operators Megafon and Rostelecom, two companies that indicated that disconnection would not affect the quality of their services.
On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine after the authorities of the self-proclaimed people’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk called for help to repel Kiev’s increasing attacks and heavy bombing.
