Cuba-Belarus economic relations talks continue

Havana, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Belarus are holding talks here on Wednesday, especially on economic and trade matters, to deepen bilateral ties.

These deals are part of the 10th Session of the bilateral Intergovernmental Plenary Commission, which started on June 6 and will end on June 8, and whose main venue is the Vedado Hall at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

Addressing the meeting, Inalvis Bonachea, director of Trade Policy with Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration (MINCEX), said that the presence of a large delegation from that nation in Cuba is a sign of the political will.

She recalled that the visit to Belarus by President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez in October 2019 was an important milestone for the strengthening of such ties, leading to the signing of the joint Action Plan between the two Governments, which is aimed at making progress in prioritized sectors, such as industry, health care, biotechnology, tourism and communication technologies.

Belarus and Cuba are currently subject to sanctions and great pressure, which influences the economic development of both States; that is why, maintaining and developing contacts is very important, Bonachea stated.

On Wednesday, the two nations will sign the Final Protocol of the 10th Session of the Cuban-Belarusian Intergovernmental Plenary Commission at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
