Diaz-Canel calls to revive economic and social activity in Cuba

Ciego de Avila, Cuba, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Miguel Diaz-Canel, on Thursday called not to stop to overcome difficulties and revive economic and social activity.

At the end of the comprehensive visit of the PCC Secretariat to Ciego de Avila in May, the leader stated that there are conditions to overcome any obstacle or adversity.”That takes effort, attitude, and hard work,” he said.

“There are difficult days ahead in power generation and it is necessary to give the population as much information as possible, since the energy situation in Cuba is tense, due to the deficit in generation capacity and fuel oil. They are also the result of the United States blockade, there are those who don’t believe it, but the effect is real,” he said.

The Cuban president noted that the fight against Covid-19 deteriorated the country’s infrastructure, but the creative resistance of Cubans succeeded in overcoming the pandemic.

Regarding the insufficiencies in the health care program for mothers with three or more children, Diaz-Canel pointed out that it is not only about resolving housing, but also helping families to get out of vulnerability.

“This is everyone’s job, because if we don’t follow it properly and define the roles of each institution, the problems will not be solved. We cannot lose credibility, there must be encouragement, visits to each family and accompaniment,” he said.
