According to a press release, a sustained community transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the cause of the pandemic and the epidemiological situation in recent weeks were acknowledged.
“Add to this the seasonal component, with a significant and growing number of infection by other viral agents, such as influenza and RSV,” the MSP explained to the public.
The latest Covid-19 report indicated that from May 29 to June 4, 1,184 new cases were reported, a number very similar to that of the previous week and with 34,072 convalescents.
The Ministry considered necessary the mandatory use of face masks for people with respiratory symptoms who are in contact with other people during the period in which such symptoms last until the diagnosis is established.
It is also highly recommended to face masks in public transportation, at urban, suburban, interdepartmental and international levels and people staying in shelters, detention centers or institutions of similar characteristics.
It is also valid in areas where an outbreak of acute respiratory disease is suspected for a limited period until the situation is resolved, caregivers of non-vaccinated children under five years of age and food processors and handlers.
