Cuba joins the Caribbean from UNESCO

Havana, Jun 13 (Prensa Latina) The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO, in Spanish), the European Union (EU) and Cuban institutions are currently organizing an academic event to foster the entrepreneurship of young professionals in the Caribbean.

The important in-person gathering will be held from June 29 to 30,in Kingston, Jamaica, and, according to the professionals, it is a program of energy and hope that could change of hundreds of regional young people´s life.

The meeting entitled “Transculture: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity” will be the perfect setting to bring to fruition an initiative that empowers such a decisive segment at the present time. According to organizers, the event is a feasible platform in which several contexts will be involved in the cultural field of a Caribbean region marked by separate art expression from a more contemporary outlook.

The project seeks to offer greater chances for decent employment and entrepreneurship within the framework of cultural and creative industries for young people, so that they become professionals in the socioeconomic development of their countries and communities.

Juan Garay, representative of the European Union in Cuba and Latin America, told Prensa Latina that such an initiative is attempting to foster an equitable and inclusive mechanism for all.

Transculture also promotes exchanges between the 17 beneficiary countries of the Program and Europe.
