Cuban Ballet to continue tribute to British choreographer Ben Steven

Havana, Jun 13 (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba announced today the continuity of its presentations as part of the tribute season to British choreographer Ben Stevenson, inaugurated last June 10 at the National Theater.

The tribute to the artistic director, deserving the Order of the British Empire, also commemorates 120 years of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Cuba and the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, sovereign of fifteen independent states.

The performances scheduled for June 17, 18 and 19 also include Stevenson’s Three Preludes, Esmeralda pas de deux and Mozart Requiem and, in this second week, the ballet Imago, by Cuban choreographer Ely Regina Hernandez.

According to the BNC dancer, in the creation of that work she started from the piece Duet, premiered in 2015, to which she made changes with respect to the original version, choreographic transformations and incorporated the physical potential of the performers.

The presentations are accompanied and talented by the Alicia Alonso Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatro de La Habana, under the direction of Yhovani Duarte and the National Lyric Theater Choir, directed by Denisse Falcón.
