According to the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, the construction of the new health care center is 18% advanced and is expected to be completed and delivered to begin operations in December 2024.
Sucre indicated that the project will generate 400 direct jobs and 200 indirect jobs.
The contract for the study, design, construction, equipment and financing of the hospital is in charge of the Consorcio de Instalaciones Médicas de Panamá, made up of Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana de Infraestructura, S.A., Ingeniería R.E.C., and the company Transeq, he added.
The investment of the project is a little more than 256 million dollars and the hospital should be finished and equipped in a period of 30 months, he said.
The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, made a commitment last May with popular organizations at a dialogue table to resume the work on the new hospital, stopped 10 years ago.
