According to an official press release, both leaders discussed the issue during a telephone conversation, Xi emphasized that Beijing has always evaluated the situation based on the historic context and was a promoter of world peace, stability and global economic order.
He also called for an appropriate and responsible resolution of the issue, and pointed out that China will play an active role in this regard.
Xi also highlighted the steady development of bilateral relations despite the international turbulence, and noted economic-trade cooperation and the opening of the Heihe-Blagoveshchensk Bridge to connect the two nations across their borders better.
He assured that China is ready to work with Russia in strengthening ties, mutual support on sovereignty, security and security concerns, and strategic coordination in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Brics group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
He proposed joining forces to promote solidarity among emerging economies and a change in global governance resulting in more justice.
Putin, for his part, also praised cooperation between Russia and China, rejected interference in the internal affairs of Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and expressed willingness to expand communication and constructive efforts to achieve the multi-polarization of the world and a fairer and more reasonable order, the official statement added.
