After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, the big media and the agencies of the time turned their attacks against Cuba, according to Libertad’s congratulatory message, conveyed in video by its director, Martín Rodríguez.

Faced with this, he stressed, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara and journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti had the vision to create a news agency that would broadcast what was really happening in Cuba and the heroic struggle of its people for freedom, social justice and socialism.

“Sixty-three years have passed since then and Prensa Latina since that June 16, 1959, just a few months after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution until today, has become a reliable source of information, not only about what is happening in Cuba, but also in America and the whole world,” he said.

“Congratulations to Prensa Latina and all its workers for the extraordinary task of informing the whole world,” the congratulations of the PVP organ concluded.
