México, Cuba, cultura, relaciones
Havana, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) Researchers from Cuba and Mexico on Thursday share the cultural links of both countries through master lectures, on the occasion of the 6th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Ibermemory Sound and Audiovisual Program, which is taking place in Havana.

Pavel Granados, president of the Program and general director of the Mexican National Record Library, is in charge of opening the meeting with his paper “The bolero in Mexico: the traces from Cuba.”

Then, Cuban musicologist and researcher Lea Cardenas will speak about the preparation of the joint file for the UNESCO declaration of bolero as Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The specialists will speak at the Che Guevara Hall of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television and the event is entitled “The heritage that unites us,” in reference to the sonority by outstanding Cuban composers and singers.

On August 24, 2021, the bolero was granted the prize of Intangible Heritage of the Cuban Nation, precisely on the 102nd anniversary of the birth of illustrious vocalist Benny More and Luis Marquetti, who was known as a giant worshipper of this rhythm.

The initiative of the Ibermemory Sound and Audiovisual Program emerged during the 23rd Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Panama in 2013 and it became a program at the Veracruz edition a year later.
