Cuba´s ANPP congratulates Prensa Latina on 63rd anniversary

Havana, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (ANPP, in Spanish) on Thursday congratulated Prensa Latina News Agency on its 63rd anniversary.

Congratulations to Prensa Latina on its 63rd anniversary, a working group that has kept committed to its founding principles and to the legacy of Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara, the ANPP posted on Twitter.

Prensa Latina, established in 1959 amid the confrontation between the Cuban Revolution and the misinformation media campaigns, is today celebrating its over 60 years of foundation.

According to Prensa Latina President, Luis Enrique González, the news agency is carrying out a hard work to face up obstacles imposed by the unprecedented tightening of the US blockade against Cuba.

The hostile US policy -he pointed out- prevents Prensa Latina, among other issues, from making international transfers and operating accounts.

However, Mr González said that even in this context, and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Prensa Latina managed to grow and include correspondents in Iran and Japan.

Prensa Latina currently broadcasts more than 350 daily news in six languages. It fosters the use of innovative web tools and has agreements with different media outlets and institutions.
