According to the report, the president of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, sent a message to the Somali authorities, through which he also stated that the organization will support all governmental efforts to guarantee the constitutional order.

Abdi Barre, former chairman of the electoral commission of the southern state of Jubbaland and voted in as a member of parliament last December, was nominated for the post by the nation’s president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Last Wednesday, during an appearance broadcast on state television, Sheikh Mohamud asked Parliament to approve his nomination for Prime Minister as soon as possible.

He also urged the Prime Minister to fulfill “the work before him, such as addressing insecurity, drought, climate change and good relations with all countries.”

I made this decision after recognizing Hamza’s knowledge, experience and expertise, he explained at a press conference following his presentation.

Sheikh Mohamud, founder and chairman of the Peace and Development Party, was elected last May as the tenth president of Somalia and the next five years he will lead the country for the second time, after his term between September 2012 and February 2017.
