Speaking to reporters at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (Spief), the senior official said that Moscow and Managua will develop more active cooperation in several areas, including energy security and investment.
The head of the Russian diplomacy stressed the high level of the delegation of that Central American country, which inlcudes several Ministers and special representatives.
At the beginning of the meeting with his counterpart, Denis Moncada, Lavrov said that Russian president Vladimir Putin was aware the meeting and asked to convey his warmest greetings and best wishes to his counterpart Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo.
The Russian Foreign Minister underscored the broad agenda of cooperation and mutual interests in the areas of energy security, food, trade, investment, finance, transport, logistics, pharmaceuticals, among others.
For his part, the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister assured that his government has repeatedly stressed its commitment to the indestructible friendship between the two countries.
Moncada drew attention to the importance of this partnership in the context of the current situation, when some hostile countries are trying to destroy Russia.
