“The West is waging a war against Russia to the last Ukrainian. It is not going well for them. That’s why Washington and Brussels (headquarters of the EU leadership) are ready to do everything possible to continue hostilities,” he posted on his Telegram channel.
According to the Russian politician, that is the reason why the EU bloc wants to grant Kiev the EU candidate status, a decision that is likely to be announced this week.
“Ukraine does not meet any of the requirements for membership in the European community or for candidate status,” the Eurasian nation’s deputy wrote.
In his opinion, the country suffers from problems of “total corruption, the rise of crime, the power of oligarchs and the destroyed economy,” something that “Europe understands perfectly well, but the desire to weaken Russia prevails,” he noted.
Volodin noted that the end of Ukraine will be sad, because it will lose its independence by moving its decision-making center to Brussels.
