On the occasion of the International Day of Music, the institute prepared the projection of 14 videos of Sabatés´ interpretation of the films of the Spanish filmaker Segundo de Chomón (Teruel 1871- París 1929), considered one of the greatest pioneers in the history of cinema at the beginning of the 20th century.
The event will show the musical vision and dramaturgy of the songwriter on the selection of Chomón´s films, author of a prodigious inventiveness in his more than three hundred movies.
Presented by the pianist’s widow Anna Pomerol, the activity will have a performance tomorrow at the Vox Cinema in Beirut and on Friday at the Cultural Center of the northern city of Tripoli.
Sabatés was born on October 23, 1948 in Barcelona and until his death last January 11, he worked in various genres and styles, from jazz, rock, chamber music, symphonic, flamenco and for theater and cinema.
His work from Chomón’s silent films earned the multidisciplinary creator among many recognitions the Honorary Award for the Promotion of Arts and Design Sebastià Gasch in 2013.
