Panamanians are recalling on Sunday the opening of the Cocoli terminal, in this capital, on June 26, 2016, when over 20,000 guests witnessed the passing of the first ship, the Cosco Shipping Panama.

The Canal expansion, this institution noted, allows the transit of ships with up to 14,000 containers, the triple of the capacity that existed before.

The Neopanamax locks account for more than 50 percent of the tonnage and income of the waterway and its main users are the United States, China and Japan, in that order.
