Washington, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) A poorly defined atmospheric disturbance could experience a slight strengthening if it remains over water and become a tropical storm, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported today.

The probability of formation in 48 hours is 70 percent and in five days is 90 percent.

According to this morning’s report from the meteorological entity, at 08:00 local time, the system had its center near latitude 9.5 North, longitude 56.5 West; with a westward movement at about 37 kilometers per hour (km/h).

It also indicates that it is expected to move northwestward through Thursday and will pass near or over portions of the southern Windward Islands on Tuesday night and then continue to move over the southern Caribbean Sea or near the northern coast of Venezuela on Wednesday and Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 65 km/h, with higher gusts.

In addition, tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 95 kilometers from the center, with an estimated minimum central pressure of nine thousand nine hectoPascal.
