From his profile on the social network Twitter, the official considered the physical disappearance of the National Literature Prize in 1990 as an irreparable loss for the academic and literary scene in Cuba and valued the monumentality of her work in Latin America.

The vice minister of that institution Fernando Leon Jacomino described Garcia-Marruz as an angel of poetry and evoked her verses: “And sometimes it seems to me that I look for you/your quiet strength and your hat/for you to show me the way/of my lost true name.

For his part, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla praised the extraordinary intellectual and faithful Martiana, an essential figure of Latin American culture and, earlier, Abel Prieto, president of Casa de las Americas, stressed that the poet “sang Che and Haydee Santamaria like no one else”.

After hearing the news of her death on Monday, numerous institutions and personalities recognized the essayist and researcher as one of the highest lyrical voices of literature in the region and mentioned her deep devotion to the Apostle Jose Marti.
