A few hours ago, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle, gathered the Council of Ministers to deliberate on the distribution of funds in the face of claims for more resources by portfolio holders and heads of public entities.

According to Arbeleche “we are consolidating the protection of our citizens which has to do with the Ministry of the Interior”, an agency whose current leaders have been criticized by legislators of the opposition Frente Amplio and in citizen surveys for the increase in insecurity.

He also said in a press conference that he will begin the salary recovery for civil servants, which “was a commitment of the government”, without specifying yet on what account as to respond to the demands of the Trade Union Confederation (Cofe).

She also qualified as “educational transformation”, a budget increase, which for the president of the National Administration of Primary Education (Anep), Robert Silva, is insufficient in view of the needs in education and an intended reform of the system.

The official predicted that there will be an economic growth of more than 4.0 percent in the new fiscal year and the creation of 40 000 jobs.

The Executive Branch has until June 30 to present its budget proposal to Parliament, where an intense debate is expected, to which the echo of unions mobilized abroad to demand salary recovery and to defend public enterprises will reach.
