Today, 19 cities of the country dawned in red alert, but the Ministry of Health has already announced that in the coming hours the number will reach 22, including Rome.
The red level means that exceptional meteorological phenomena with the potential to cause emergencies or disasters are expected, while the orange level means that they are considered dangerous and yellow means the possibility of damage.
The temperatures expected in Sicily could surpass the European record of 48,8 degrees Celsius set on that island on August 11, 2021, recorded in Floridia, province of Syracuse, which after 44 years beat the previous one reported in Athens, Greece, specialists indicate.
