Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian called on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to stop provocations, unfounded accusations and using the Cold War mentality against Beijing.
He considered that the alliance’s new Strategic Concept denies facts, confuses right with wrong and treats China as “a systematic challenge” only to defame its military development and defense policy.
He also denounced the bloc’s expansion into the Asia-Pacific in an attempt to replicate the confrontation and stressed that the Chinese people will never forget the bombing of their embassy in Yugoslavia 23 years ago by NATO and the United States.
On the other hand, Zhao rejected the statements on Taiwan by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, and recalled that although Beijing is committed to peaceful reunification, it will not stand idly by in the face of Taipei’s separatist actions.
She stressed that this is an internal matter and does not admit the interference of any foreign force.
