In a radio interview, Landa, a prominent jurist and former president of the Constitutional Tribunal, commented on the report of the commission, with a majority of the opposition that “the task of overseeing cannot be done by abusing the law, as the Constitution states”.
The report accuses the president and members of his entourage, investigated for alleged corruption and several of them fugitives, of acting in concert to manage public works tenders favoring certain companies.
He considers proven that they have committed the crimes of criminal organization, collusion and influence peddling, although he recognizes that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has these charges under investigation.
On the other hand, he considered valid a governmental bill that punishes with imprisonment those who, from the justice system or the parties involved in a trial, leak information about the reserved phase of the investigations of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
