Nicaragua reinforces prevention measures due to climate threat

Managua, Jun 30 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua on Thursday strengthens preventive measures to address possible emergency situations in the face of the imminent threat of an event that could become a tropical storm, which is expected to reach the country on Friday.

As Vice President Rosario Murillo stated, all the plans of the first level institutions and attention to the Nicaraguan families are ready.

On Wednesday, Nicaraguan authorities presented to the representatives of international organizations accredited in the country the preparations of the plans before the climate phenomenon reaches the country.

According to the directors of the National System for the Prevention, Mitigation and Attention to Disasters, Bonnie could enter at some point of the Nicaraguan Caribbean coast.

The last tropical event that hit Nicaragua was Hurricane Iota in November 2020, which caused several damages and deaths.
