Italy forecasts tourism growth in 2022 despite the Covid-19 pandemic

Rome, Jul 1 (Prensa Latina) The Italian government expects tourism growth this year to reach a similar level to that existing before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, in early 2020, which is still affecting this country, Massimo Garavaglia, minister of Tourism, said on Friday.

This official said that they are expecting to reach the number of tourists in 2019 by late 2022, and even more, in some regions and locations of this European nation.

In the summer of 2022, over 28 million Italians are expected to take a vacation and make 62.8 million tourist trips, including trips abroad.

According to a recent study, each Italian tourist will spend nearly 300 euros on weekend excursions, 540 euros on a vacation of 3 to 6 days, and 1,250 euros on a vacation of seven or more days.

If this forecast is right, something that will depend of the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic in this year’s second semester, national tourism will gross some 47 billion euros for this country’s economy, the source noted.
