Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said in his usual appearance before the press that the Ukrainian Army has had heavy losses in the Lisichansk area, located in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, where about 200 soldiers were killed in one day alone.
The military chief noted that allied forces have arrived directly in Lisichansk. The Ukrainian Army is suffering heavy losses in the area. The enemy lost more than 120 men in one day alone in the locality of Verkhnekamenka and 70 in Verkhnekamensk.
Konashenkov also underscored that the Ukrainian command is concealing in every possible way the lack of troops in the military units and detachments.
In this regard, he detailed that in one of the Ukrainian battalions operating in the area of the Novaya Poltavka town of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), no more than 20 percent of the personnel remained in the ranks.
Moreover, the spokesman added that aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces attacked 32 checkpoints of the Ukrainian Army and an air target detection radar near Katranka in the Odessa region.
Speaking to report on the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the aim is to protect the population of Donbas from Kiev’s abuses and genocide over the past eight years, as well as to “demilitarize” and “denazify” the neighboring country.
