Venezuela joins directive in Parliamentary Network of the NAM

Caracas, Jul 1 (Prensa Latina) The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, was elected today as vice president of the Latin America Group in the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The appointment took place during the second meeting of the NAM’s legislative body, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, the Venezuelan Parliament reported in a press release.

“On behalf of the National Assembly of Venezuela and honoring the libertarian spirit of the people of Simón Bolívar, I thank the appointment as VP (vice president) of the Parliamentary Network of the NAM, an organization par excellence for the construction of a multipolar world as a dream of humanity. “Rodríguez indicated on his Twitter social network account.

The parliamentary body of the Non-Aligned Movement was established in November 2021 at its inaugural meeting held in Madrid, Spain, within the framework of the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

In accordance with the Madrid Declaration, adopted by the legislators of the NAM, the Parliamentary Network aims to contribute to a greater awareness and promotion of the ideas and principles of the Movement.

Likewise, it is intended to guarantee parliamentary support for the implementation of the bloc’s obligations, provide a framework for cooperation and coordination between parliaments for the exchange of experiences in the field of peace, security, human rights and development .

In addition, it reiterates its unwavering commitment to the principles and objectives of the Non-Aligned Movement, articulated in Bandung (1955) and Belgrade (1961), and expresses its strict adherence to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
