Brazil, second country with the most plastic surgeries in the world

Brasilia, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Brazil appears as the second country, behind the United States, with the most plastic surgeries in the world in 2020, the year of the most recent global data available, cited by the portal G1.

In previous calendars (2018 and 2019), Brazilians were at the top of the list, according to data from the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (Isaps).

According to the statistics, what patients sought most two years ago was liposuction, followed by breast prostheses. In 2020, the United States registered 1,485,116 of surgical procedures and Brazil ranked next, with 1,306,962.

“In Brazil we have a scenario that focuses on body surgery. We are a tropical country, there is greater exposure of the body. The demand of patients for body surgeries such as breast, abdomen, waist is very high”, Alexandre Munhoz, plastic surgeon of the Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in the city of Sao Paulo, explained.

And it is not only women who seek surgical centers. According to Munhoz, 25% of his patients are men.
