Aerolineas Argentinas restarted flights to Cuba

Aerolineas-Argentinas-Fabian-Lombardo
Buenos Aires, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) The commercial director of Aerolineas Argentinas, Fabián Lombardo, highlighted the restart of his company's flights to Cuba and highlighted the importance of meetings held today to promote the island as a tourist destination.

Within the framework of the Cuba Única conference, held in this capital and the city of Córdoba, Lombardo described the inaugural trip, made on Monday, as successful after six years of interruption of that route.

It was an event, practically full both in the first leg and in the return. The work being done is very important and we urge continued joint actions to maintain the journey, he said.

Likewise, he specified that Aerolineas will carry out three weekly flights to the largest of the Antilles (Monday, Thursday and Friday) with a one and a half hour technical stop in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where there will be a crew change.

In this way, the trip lasts 11 hours and a half and we will be operating it with our Boeing 737 MAX, new and modern planes with capacity for 170 passengers (eight in business class and 162 in economy), he indicated.

According to the planned schedule, the flights depart at 02:00 local time from Buenos Aires and arrive in Havana at 13:15.

Then, they leave at 14:45 from Cuba and arrive in Argentina at 04:00.

In total, for this month we will offer more than two thousand seats and we hope to bring around 1,800 Argentines to the island. We intend to continue growing through these types of events and other initiatives, he said.

Lombardo stressed that Aerolineas currently has 75 percent of the domestic market and practically 40 percent of the international market.

From January to June of this year, we recovered 92 percent of the passengers that we had in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. We already transport about five million people, he assured.

In addition, he reported that the company operates 76 routes and 47 interprovincial sections.

There is a very strong demand for domestic services, especially to tourist destinations such as Bariloche, Mendoza, Iguazú and Ushuaia, among others, he pointed out.

On the other hand, he indicated that the company currently has 242 flights and aspires to continue growing, especially on the international stage, after being affected by the pandemic and the economic crisis.

As expected, we will offer offers for the World Cup in Qatar (November-December). We have defined seven frequencies that are for sale. The flights will last 18 hours and will have a technical stopover in Madrid, Spain, he noted.
