“It has the challenges of achieving public and free higher education. Achieving public university centers of excellence focused on research. Substantially increasing the number of boys and girls in preschool,” Petro wrote through his Twitter account.
Gaviria, who is also a writer, civil engineer and politician, was deputy director of the National Planning Department from 2002 to 2004, and Minister of Health and Social Protection (2012-2018).
He was also director of the Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Latin America and the Caribbean until 2019, when he began his work as rector of the Universidad de los Andes.
At the end of August 2021, Gaviria announced his aspirations to launch his independent presidential candidacy for the last elections, in which Petro was elected by the Historical Pact, with more than 11 million votes.
Petro is forming his ministerial cabinet and with Gaviria there are eight portfolio managers: Carolina Corcho (Health), Susana Muhamad (Environment), Cecilia López aaaaaaaaaa (Agriculture), Patricia Ariza (Culture), and Vice President Francia Márquez of the future Ministry of Equality .
Meanwhile, José Antonio Ocampo will be the Minister of Finance and Álvaro Leyva Durán will direct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In general, the appointment of ministers to date has been widely accepted by not only the members of the Historical Pact and their allies, but also by other political forces and a large part of the population.
