Cuban band is competing at music festival in the Netherlands

Amsterdam, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) The performance of Banda Boyeros at the World Music Contest of Kerkrade was Cuba's debut on Thursday at that international contest, held in the Netherlands since 1951.

According to the official page of this event, the Cuban band will give several concerts in Kerkrade and its surroundings until Saturday, as well as workshops at schools of this region.

For her part, director of this band from Havana, Daya Aceituno, spoke about the honor of being included in the agenda of this contest created 74 years ago, an achievement that it is only possible thanks to the support of several Cuban cultural institutions and the Dutch Organizing Committee.

On Facebook, Aceituno highlighted the coherent coordination of the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Music and the Ignacio Piñeiro enterprise.

Based on contests for wind and brass bands, the World Music Contest promotes exchange between visitors from several parts of the world during four weeks of performances.

In its 19th edition, the contest features more than 20,000 musicians and 300,000 visitors in Kerkrade city, with a program that includes high-quality artists both from the Netherlands and the rest of the world.

Every four years, this contest becomes a platform for the best wind and brass, percussion, show and music bands.
