“Venezuela is firm and determined to confront imperialism and will maintain its solidarity and fidelity to the brother peoples of the world, and the victory will belong to the free and independent peoples,” said the charge d’affaires, Jon Gomez.

He described the friendship between Damascus and Caracas as “strategic”, adding that the two nations share courageous and honest positions in the permanent defense of all just causes in the world.

He ratified his country’s support for Syria in its fight against terrorism by stating that “supporting Syria means supporting a dignified, sovereign world, purposeful in determining its own destiny.”

The director of the Department of the Americas in the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abeer Al-Jarf, congratulated the government and people of Venezuela on the anniversary of its independence.

“Syrian-Venezuelan relations have shown that when the will exists, geographical distance is not an obstacle to rapprochement,” the official said.

She revealed that 40 agreements were signed in the economic, commercial, cultural, agricultural and social fields, but unilateral coercive measures limited their implementation.
