Speaking at a ceremony honoring graduates of military universities, the Belarusian president said that the events currently unfolding around his country and Russia call for extreme vigilance and concentration, BelTA news agency reported.
“The countries of the West, under the explicit command of the United States, are destroying the world security system systematically, methodically and even against their own national interests and the wishes of their peoples,” said Lukashenko.
In this connection, the Belarusian head of state added that it seems that the members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have suddenly decided that it is the right time for another “crusade to the East”, and they forget how similar campaigns ended for their historical predecessors.
He also stressed that, as part of the US hegemony, “armed groups are being formed, supported by neo-Nazi ideology and outright fascist regimes in undesirable countries”.
Lukashenko commented that Western nations are actively conducting ground and air reconnaissance, dominating military logistics, transferring equipment and supplies from other regions, at the same time increasing military budgets and forming “an armored fist” by the countries of the Atlantic Alliance under pretext of strengthening European defense and various types of “defense” exercises.
Belarus and Russia maintain their repeated denunciation before the international community that NATO is increasing tensions and destabilizing the security of Europe, in the face of the advance of its troops to the east of the region. pgh/abo/mem/odf
